Music Programs Internship – Program Coordinator

The Phillips Collection's Internship program is open to full-time undergraduate students, full-time graduate students, and recent graduates. The purpose of The Phillips Collection Internship program is to give students and recent graduates meaningful work and educational experiences in their area of academic study.

Duration: Half season (four months); Flexible weekdays; 32 hours per week is preferred. However, depending upon the needs of a given department, internship length and schedule may vary.

Academic Credit: Depending on the nature of the internship and approval of the student's college or university, academic credit may be granted for internships. Student applicants should consult their academic advisor for additional information.

Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

The Music Programs Intern [Program Coordinator] will assist with Sunday Concerts, the acclaimed series of weekly chamber concerts, and Leading European Composers, the Phillips classical contemporary series (in partnership with embassies of the European Union). Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and organizing artist contracts for future performances.
  • Tracking submission of materials received by artists.
  • Entering concert information on Phillips website software.
  • Sending Music e-News to Concert Mailing List and adding new contacts to iContact software.
  • Communicating with Artist/s and handling special issues surrounding concerts.
  • Assist coordinating developments in the Leading European Composers series with EU embassies.
  • Organizing artist portfolios by category.
  • Monitoring radio feature broadcasts of concerts.
  • Assisting with Concert Masters membership program.
  • Proofing season brochure and other Music Program publications.
  • Reviewing and responding to inquiries from artists and general public vis-à-vis Concerts@ e-mail and Concert Line extension
  • Performing other duties as assigned by Director of Music Programs.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in Performing Arts administration preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and computer abilities
  • Ability to work well with performing artists and public audience
  • Background in Music Performance and/or Music History desirable
